Upcoming Meetings
The next meeting will take place at Newport Central Lincoln PUD, meeting room, SUNDAY May 19, 2013 at 1:30 PM. ANYONE WISHING TO BE ON THE BOARD OR ANY OF OUR COMMITTEES PLEASE COME TO THE MEETING! ANYONE HAVING ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE COME TO THE MEETING. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE BOARD TO BE ON A COMMITTEE! Newport Alumni Association Secretary's Minutes Meeting was called to order by President Dick Bevens at 1:40 PM at Central Lincon PUD Offices. Those in attendance were:Dick Bevens, Frances Fogarty, Toni Braxling, Ellie LeMaster, Marlin Utterback, Pat Timme, Toni Braxling, Carol Ritchey, Anna Easley, Robert Overholser and Marsha Rowley. Secretary's Minutes We read and again had a discussion on the email correspondence from the Classes of 2003,1973,1993 and 1963. The Classof 1983 have also emailed us. Classes of 1967, 1968 and 1969 are putting together their own reunions, we extendd them an invitation come as guests to our Banquet. The Class of 2003 is arranging theirs s well. The Scholarships have been awarded but can not be revealed until next month; Surprise you know. We have at this time $13 toward the one we are sponsering. Old Business Toni Braxling read the minutes of the last meeting. Minutes were approved as issued and read. The treasurer presented the balances on CD's, checking account and Merrill Lynch. The treasurer's report was approved as discussed! Dick reported that the Articles of Incorporation and the By-Laws have been sent in. Getting closer to being able to apply for Grants. Pat Timme was not present to report on the status of the Alumni All Class Banquet for the current year but had informed Carol that the Shilo Inn Resort has been reserved for Saturday August 17, 2013 and that it will be a Buffet rather than a sit down Dinner. Marcia and Marlin reported that they ned more information to complete the Audit for the past fiscal year and to make a Budget for the current year. They will meet with Frances ar a date determined later to get the additional information they need. New Business: It's time for the Board member to ask around for Donations for the Raffle, Silent Auction and the Live Auction, conducted at the Alumni Banquet. Under New Business Carol reported that she contacted a person who could help us write a Grant appliction for Scholarship funds when we have all the necessary forms. Her name is Elizabeth Madden. Frances suggested that we have Tee Shirts this year as well as the Hoodies we still have. They would have our bear Logo on the back and the Cubs logo on the front. Committees Pat report that the Banquet Committee had visited, Shilo Inn Resort, to obtain information on meals and costs for our August 17, 2013 Banquet. The meal charge per person will be $30.00. Live Auction rather than silent this year. It was reported that the Class of 1963 had taken care of reserving for Photos, so we will have them. We thank you Class of 1963 for your help! Frances reported on the Tee shirts and Pat wanted to check in Toledo to see if we could get a better price. Marlin and Marcia volunteered to be the audit committee. They will also work on a Budget for the coming year, making us more elgible for a Grants. David Timme did a blanket news letter to all the email address we have on file. If any one out there received that email please contact us so we know it worked. Frances still in charge of the Website-------sort of. The Banquet contracts have been signed, and rooms reserved by Ellie. Our requests for donations from the merchants are going out sooner so we may have some better offerings. Get them before they give all their money away, so to speak! Other It was moved that we have our next meeting May 19, 2013 at 1:30 PM. PUD meeting room.
